Closet Rules

Inspired by ‘Semiotics of the Kitchen’ by Martha Rosler, this project serves as a tool to question how garments are linked to our memory. By dissecting the everyday act of getting dressed, which is linked to learned behaviour, we try to question the social norms we find acceptable when dressing.

The videos, displayed in a closet, are a visual representation of re-wearing garments in a non-conventional way. By breaking the ‘normal’ pattern of dressing, the viewer might question one’s own routine.

Ten Ways to Take a Seat

For a while now I’ve been very intrigued by mundane objects. We’ve made unspoken agreements on their appearance and usage and no longer question this. ‘Ten Ways to Take a Seat’ tries to push the boundaries of functionality while challenging social rules. Set in public spaces, where a social code of conduct is most noticeable, my pictures aim to highlight the limits we place on these objects.
